SALVA LA Ñ
PRINGLES - 2024
THE CHALLENGE
"Ñ" — it’s more than just a letter. It’s an emblem of Hispanic culture. However, since the letter does not exist in English, the tilde above the Ñ is often dropped from Spanish names and words, impacting how Hispanic culture is represented in the U.S. In fact, “Ñ” isn’t included on passports, is rarely typed out on a U.S. keyboard and even causes technical issues in website URLs (our campaign website is a case in point ). But a world without Ñ is a sad world indeed! We wouldn’t have any sueños in the Año Nuevo, or los cumpleaños to celebrate. A tropical vacation without a piña colada or a cabaña? Unheard of! As a brand who brings flavor to every occasion, Pringles wants to ensure we don’t lose the flavor of language.
OUR SPIN
Have you ever noticed that the tilde on top of an Ñ looks just like a Pringles crisp?
Well, we intend to save the Ñ by inviting everyone to eat Pringles instead of its tilde! So, to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, Pringles is encouraging fans to stop dropping or “eating” the tilde from common words like jalapeño or names like Muñoz and eat Pringles crisps instead. To help fans brush up on their Spanish, Pringles is teaming up with Duolingo, a mobile platform designed for learning languages, to give more people the opportunity to embrace the real power of the "Ñ."
